Qld councils made to adopt code of conduct ...

Life as a Councillor is about to get tougher:

From ABC News:

A code of conduct for councillors will be mandatory for Queensland councils as of March 1, after the introduction of State Government legislation.

The Local Government Association of Queensland says along with a code of conduct, an independent conduct review panel will also be introduced.

The association's acting executive director, Greg Hoffman, says the panels will initially be state-wide, but if support is strong enough panels may be grouped on a regional basis.

"We're looking to establish a pool of people state-wide that councils can draw upon for their own individual panels," he said.

Pity this code of conduct was not in now as I think a councillor or two would be in all sorts of strife. Maybe they are anyway!
