Premier Beattie's flip flops ...

Premier Beattie said:

2 June 2006:

"The only way that [recycled water] would be used if we had an armageddon-type situation and it never rained again and we had to use recycled water because it never rained again - which of course it will."

6 June 2006:

"... I want to ensure that the people of Queensland are clear on my government's stance on the use of recycled water. It has never been the state government's policy to pump recycled water into dams. We are actively supporting the use of recycled water for industry. If there is a surplus, we will free it up for agricultural use, possibly in the Lockyer."

Also on 6 June 2006:

"I repeat: using recycled water for drinking is not my government's policy."

Flash forward to 13 July 2006:

"The report clearly reinforces the Toowoomba City Council's position that indirect potable water is the most efficient and cost-effective option available for the long-term, reliable water supply for the area."

If only it did!

And on 30 July 2006?

Wait and see ...
