A NO vote gets you one hour of hosing a week ...

Plans by Qld's new Water Commission to permit anyone over 70 years old to hose their gardens for an hour a week.

An excerpt:

QUEENSLAND'S new Water Commission, in its first official action, wants to exempt more than 200,000 elderly and disabled people in southeast Queensland from level 3 water restrictions.

All residents 70 or older would be able to use their garden hoses for an hour a week under a plan being reviewed by regional mayors.

Thousands of others with Centrelink disability pensions or Queensland Transport disabled parking certificates would also be exempt, according to a "confidential" letter sent to mayors.

The Qld Coalition, once in power, will extend the Water Commission's powers to include Toowoomba.

A NO vote on 29 July gets us closer to having a uniform system where Toowoomba is re-included in South East Qld.

(There was no formal vote by Toowoomba City Council to exclude us from the Water Commission - it was a unilateral decision by Mayor Thorley.)

We would be able to benefit from decisions of the Water Commission.

Just a thought ...
