Water Futures - when No means No ...

The recent furore created by the outgoing Mayor deserves a comment.

See - Water Futures blog - trying it again.

The outgoing Mayor and Cr Englart just don't get it.

They can dance all they like around the issue of recycled water and trying to ram through some form of resolution which will 'require' the next Toowoomba City Council to revisit the failed Water Futures project.

The simple truth is that, when properly costed, any recycled water plant for Toowoomba will not be the cheapest option - by a significant margin. Look at the cost of Premier Beattie's three recycled water plants and pipeline - $2 billion and counting.

There is also still nowhere for the RO waste stream to go - this was recently highlighted in relation to the use of recycled water plants for inland cities in the example of Canberra. Is there any commitment by a third party to take the RO waste stream to avoid the necessity of evaporation ponds? No.

It doesn't work, it never worked, they tried to fool you that it would and, in March 2008, it's payback time at the ballot box as you get an opportunity to sweep all the Yes councillors out of office and elect a new Council which will really look at sensible long-term water solutions for Toowoomba and the surrounding region ...

They thought that it was tough the last time, well I say pull out the signs and put them up to let the Council know that you meant NO the first time.

Thorley is a spoilt, petulant child who will not take NO for an answer and she bullies the other into going along with her.

My signs are ready - but are these people really that stupid? - the more information that we have gained out of these blog sites since the referendum has only made me realise much more that NO was the correct answer and always will be.

With absolutely no rain until March next year - we will be down to about 10% dam capacity - but it will give us a chance to get rid of thes no hopers who are cluttering up our Council - and work on fresh ideas for our real water futures - not an experiment on the people as planned by Beattie in Brisbane

I need to remind people that Mayor Thorley stated on 27th June on ABC radio " I take the anti-recycling result as a vote of no confidence in my leadership".
With this statement, why is she stirring up this recycled sewage plan again??????

Because she will do anything and say anything to get her failed recycled water plant on the table again before she leaves office. Just say NO.
