Excerpt from the Courier Mail:

Qld water project running late: Seeney

31 July 2007

The western corridor pipeline will deliver only two-thirds of the recycled water forecast and is now running late, the Queensland opposition says.

The latest Queensland Water Commission emergency project update showed the Western Corridor Recycled Water Project would deliver 142 megalitres a day - down from the original estimate of 232ml/day.

The report also said production flows "may reduce further".

Opposition Leader Jeff Seeney said the first stage of the pipeline was originally due to deliver recycled water to the Swanbank power station now, but the timeline had now stretched to August 31.

"The Beattie Labor government's decade long neglect of water means we're now in a race against time to build years worth of water infrastructure in just months," Mr Seeney said.

"It doesn't bode well that the Beattie Labor government couldn't hit its first major water infrastructure target."

I really do not think the opposition should even raise this issue - are we trying to rush recycled water to Wuvanhoe Dam? - may it never happen!

These people can not even figure out that as the community put less water into the sewage system it = less to recycle. The Toowoomba people told their people this a long time ago. It is elementary dear Watson. It goes to show how dumb these commission people are!

It looks to me that no recycle sewage water will ever reach Wivenhoe Dam let alone through a pipeline to Toowoomba.

I would like to agree with Anonymous 2 - however, I heard today that they have a digger that can dig the 3m depth for the pipe at a rate of 1.5km a day - there are also very fast smart couplings for the pipes to ensure the job is finished faster - Brisbane is rushing to its Armageddon - no testing - just lovely recycled water out of Luggage Point - and a desperate State Government throwing money at the project with total gay abandon.
