Toowoomba's super shire future ...
Recommendation to the Beattie government:
- create a super shire by amalgamating Toowoomba with Crows Nest, Rosalie, Jondaryan, Millmerran, Pittsworth, Clifton and Cambooya shires.
- Council to consist of 10 Councillors and a Mayor.
- reduction from 69 elected officials to 10 Councillors and a Mayor.

Lots of folks in those shires didn't want to drink recycled water and were angry that they didn't get to participate in last year's referendum.
Imagine how they will vote if any of the "Yes" Councillors are foolhardy enough to stand again ...

This will make it just that much harder for any of the ladies to get re-elected. The people in the shires either don't know them or don't like them.

We have been swallowed up by Toowoomba City Council who until now wouldn't give us a vote in the Water Referendum (even though we use the same water), let us use the library without an annual fee or have free entry to Cobb & Co Museum, but now that they can get their hands on our rates they want us. For a rural residential area this spells the end of an era where we knew and talked with our councillors who lived in the area and made the correct decisions for the area.

This new shire will be larger than the seat of Groom so it will need an intelligent level headed Mayor. We have that in Cr Manners.

It is indeed a sad dark day for Queensland where a dictator is allowed to ruin local government - as expressed by many the word local has been removed - and please note Di Thorley agrees with it. Please let her stand in the next "local" election so we can really boot this Beattie lover all the way past Tasmania. Is there not some other island where we can banish people like her, Beattie, Bligh & Company?

Did my eyes deceive me - or was that not Bob Quinn ex-Liberal State leader as one of the Commission smiling away at this treachery - Oh, for someone to come forward and take on this evil State government - amalgamations for all except Brisbane - but they get the recycled sewage water - what a Smart State. Your eyes did not deceive you as it was Bob Quin and he and his fellow commissioners were very well paid to rubber stamp the Beattie plan.
Watching Mayor Thorley on TV to-day with that smirk on her face , one had the compulsion to wipe it off.
These mega shires are about party politics being introduced in to them as the ordinary person will not be able to spend the money to get elected.
Thorley got the old heave ho from the Labour Party as they accessed that she could not win and definitely not the mega shire as the country people do not like her.

She's crowing on TV because she always hated the other mayors - now she thinks she's been the one to get rid of them. She's such a sad person.

I believe that it is evident to most who watch her that she is a sick person and it depends if she is on the tablets or not as to how she acts.
We will look back and wonder how it all happened and how people were duped into electing this person to the Toowoomba City Council.

It just goes from bad to worse with the idiot premier we have in this state. I hope all that voted for this dictator are very happy with electing someone with the IQ of a ten year old bully! Hopefully all his wrongs can be undone when he is gone!
