Toowoomba Regional Council - Joe Ramia hanging by a thread ...

Excerpt from the Chronicle:

18 March 2008

Yesterday former Toowoomba City Council deputy mayor Joe Ramia, who usually polled second highest in the count, was struggling to hold a seat.

"I'll be lucky to survive and that is really sad given there could be no-one there to represent the city of 100,000 people," he said.

...

See - Joe hangs by a thread.

Voters seem to be opting for experience - just not wanting to re-experience the problems over the past 4 years ...

I,m not sure how anyone on the previous Council could get back in. You should consider yourself very lucky Joe if you make the final cut.

I sent in a letter to the Chronicle about Joe Ramia - how could anybody vote for a man of no principles - after saying that he would resign the Water Portfolio if the Yes vote lost the referendum. The No vote won - Joe did not resign but stayed on as a miserable apology for anything to do with water - the utter pessimist - the letter was not published nor were SMS's about him - maybe a vested interest by the Chronicle - an endangered species

If Joe does scrape through, he will be the rounding error at the end of the Councillor table - a table dominated by the regional Councillors who will hardly listen to anything he has to say.
