Mayor-elect Taylor plots Council name change ...
Excerpt from ABC News:
Name change mooted for Toowoomba Council
17 March 2008
A name change could be on the cards for the new Toowoomba Regional Council.
Mayor-elect Peter Taylor says it appears that several former mayors and a deputy from the merging rural councils will join him on the new local government authority.
Councillor Taylor says while its still relatively early days in the count, it appears there has been general support for the mayors from communities outside Toowoomba city.
"[It is] early days of the new council but a more inclusive name ... this is about all of us coming together," he said.
See - TRC - name change mooted.
Sounds like poaching the policy of one of the candidates unlikely to be elected.
See - I will change the name of the Council.

Does that mean another waste of money.
Stationery, logos etc etc etc, sounds like he wants to waste money.
This man will be known for his spending.
The next thing we will have to suffer a rate rise because of his poor management. Toowoomba will be a badly performing council in qld at the end of the 4 year period.

With such a regional bias likely on the Council, a name change is almost a forgone conclusion.

The logo is interim and is far from being emblazoned on all council equipment. The graphic design is a good one and will probably be kept. A change of name would require only a change to the text on the logo, not expensive at all. Nor would the interim administration have printed hundreds of thousands of stationery items.
So, I suggest those who seem so fond of it should stop carping in advance about Peter Taylor. It almost seems some people want him to fail. Give him a chance to bring some unity of purpose to council, and carry through the mandate he has overwhelmingly been given by the voters.

Totally agree.
