Water Futures - reliving the propaganda ...

Some of the Toowoomba City Council press releases during the Water Futures campaign are quite interesting given recent events:

Mayor Thorley quashes unfounded rumours

As the date looms for the Water Poll, Mayor Dianne Thorley decides it is time to put to bed the many rumours about her that are being spread by the opposition, causing worry in the community.
...

Our Mayor has also been accused of owning a motel somewhere, hotels in Stanthorpe and a number of hotels in Tasmania, where she would be moving after the poll.

“I don’t own a hotel anywhere in Australia,” Cr Thorley said. “The only property I own is right here in this city!”
...

“All these accusations are totally untrue,” Cr Thorley said. “I’m here for the long haul. Win or lose this poll, I’ll still be here come Monday morning.

“And I have every intention of running for Mayor again in the 2008 election. Cr Thorley is calling for an end to these scurrilous rumours.
...

Scurrilous rumours - moving to Tasmania to run a pub, not running for Mayor again, dumping all her Toowomba properties ...

Tasmania is in for a treat. At least she is going, going, going, soon. It is not long until March 8th. I do not envy either the person overseeing the Transition to Supercouncils, the Mayor or the new Councillors. In Toowoomba particularly, it will be a massive task with not enough Councillors. I hope the whole thing implodes on Premier Blight.

The sooner we see the back of her the better!! The only thing that would make things great would be to see Kevvie head off on the talk circuit and put someone in charge who knows what they are doing.

If a competent engineer was in charge we would see a bore put down in the right place and we would also get to the bottom of the last fiasco at the Wetalla bore.
Why did we pay the driller for a useless bore???? Why did he not put down a test hole??
These questions and more have to be answered.

It's too much money and no drinkable water!!

It seems to be a trend for these card carrying Labour people to simply pack up their bags and leave to community in the lurch.
I would imagine that they can not stand the thought of the electorate rejecting them. Both Beattie and Thorley have always espoused that they LOVE their people and they both jumped ship to go to greener pastures.

Good riddance!
We need a clean sweep in city hall with Snow Manners as Mayor!
