When failure pleases an engineer ...

Always good to see an engineer pleased with the results of his work.

But this was a little odd.

On WIN News last night, Council's Engineering Head looked quite pleased with the salty results of the first GAB bore at Wetalla.

See - Initial Wetalla GAB bore may be salty.

Hang on.

Isn't this the guy in charge of finding water for Toowoomba?

Isn't this the guy who should be examining all options?

Why would be pleased with the initial bore being high in salt content?

Why indeed ...

Planagain is happy it's salty so he can get funding for his reverse osmosis plant to treat the bore water.

Then when nobody is watching, push poo through it and pipe it up the hill to Mt Kynoch.

These Council staff have a hidden agenda and yes I agree that they will bring in recycled sewage water by stealth.

Thorley should pull her head in as she is not an expert on underground water. We should call on an independent expert in water in the Toowoomba area as Kevvie is not.

They will get the result that they want and they cannot seem to get that the state and federal governments are not going to give money for their white elephant recycle sewage plant!!!!!

Do the sums Di, it does not produce the water we need and the people have said NO to it. The country people will not accept it any more than we did. The big question it how long will it take to build it as we need water next year so Joe tells us.

This is all about the blame game and an attempt to damage Snow Manners in his run for the top job.
It will not work as the community are waiting to put in a good leader and replace the ratbag we have there now.

Go to Tasmania and soon Mayor Thorley as you add nothing to the debate and did not even have the guts to talk to us when you tried to push that rubbish before.

She is a looser and we want her gone along with the rest of the 6 pack!!!!

Did they through some bags of salt down there?

I wouldn't trust this council as far as I could kick them. Flanagan doesn't want these options to work, because it aren't his mates in America. Come to think of it why doesn't he move to America and do us a favour!

In all my years I have never seen anyone (I guess apart from our mayor) who would so willingly harm the city's interests just to prove a point. I am outraged that the city's chief engineer is putting his own self interest above the interests of the city of Toowoomba and the people living there. It is not something that should be tolerated.
Bert, Toowoomba.

Perhaps the 2008 Council election is also a vote on whether the city should continue with the services of the Engineering Head.

If these people think they can fool us they are wrong. We're just waiting for the election so we can tell them what we really think of their imcompetence.

As for Joe Ramia (Chronicle of 21 August 2007) telling us about 12 months left of water - he has been a negative thorn in the side of the community ever since he held the water portfolio (which he said he would give up if the NO vote won).

My rough estimate is at least 15 months until we reach 6% (with no rain) of the dam left - I am sure that there will be plenty of rain before that day happens
