Rain - and more's on the way

6 June 2007

Two more days of significant rain over our dams could deliver Brisbane an extra two weeks to one month's supply of water, SEQWater said today.

SEQWater said the prediction would depend on another 40-50 mm of rainfall over the next two days.

Brisbane senior forecaster Mark Trenorden said yesterday's 40-55mm could be repeated today with further falls on Thursday before conditions began to clear.

"We are expecting more rain fall on and off today and tomorrow with some local and moderate heavy falls.

"For the rest of today and Thursday, with a bit of luck, we may get the same again. It may start to thin out a bit on Thursday possibly.''
...

SEQWater spokesman Mike Foster said the falls this week had been the biggest since October 2005.
