Recycled water - Prof. Bursill declares gastro risk ...

An excerpt:

Gastro Risk with recycling

5 June 2007

A Senate inquiry has been told the State Government's $2.4 billion plan to pump recycled water into Wivenhoe Dam would increase the risk of gastroenteritis and other potentially deadly illnesses.

Professor Don Bursill, who helped develop the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, said people could become ill or even die if a safety lapse allowed dangerous bacteria to enter the drinking-water supply.

He said any move towards drinking recycled water would need to be accompanied by a "very strong regulatory regime".

With water supplies in southeast Queensland at a record low, the Government is pushing ahead with plans to recycle 90 per cent of water used in Brisbane and Ipswich.

When one reads this information one is left to wonder how the Premier got away with not putting the infracture in place years ago. Brisbane would not be in this trouble if the dams had been built way back then.

How dare they use the citizens as an experiment in this world first using recycled sewage water at this high %!!!

We already have high unexplained incidents of autism in the Australian population and I am sure that there is other anomalies that can not also be explained as to why they are occurring.
Now we are having this dreadful untested recycled sewage water push upon the people of South East Queensland.

There should be marches in the streets of Brisbane.

Well I,m hoping for a flood of biblical proportions to come and wash away the evil that is trying to put recyled effluent into our drinking supplies. Perhaps that or a government with the foresight to plan for population growth by building more dams, protecting there catchment areas and reuse of waste water in industry may end this whole sad and dangerous affair of drinking water sourced from the poisonous cocktail that is our cities effluent.

Sadly with lots of water in the dams Beattie and Co would want to put recycling into action - with more normal water - the more the risk will be spread
