...

"The Pimpama Coomera Waterfuture Master Plan has been developed by Gold Coast City Council through two years of community consultation and is a blueprint that will ensure the sustainable delivery of water and wastewater services in one of Australia's fastest growing regions," the Council's website said.

"It is the largest integrated urban water cycle management program ever undertaken in Australia, and will reduce use of drinking water by up to 84 per cent."

The Pimpama Coomera Water Future Master Plan aimed to preserve valuable drinking water through the delivery of rainwater and recycled water for non-drinking purposes, and protect local waterways through improved stormwater management.

Expected outcomes of the Master Plan included an 84 per cent reduction in the use of drinking water, reduced quantity and improved quality of stormwater runoff, reduced quantity of treated wastewater released to the environment, reduced Greenhouse Gas emissions and reduced load on wastewater systems.
