Premier Beattie announces Qld water centre ... in South Africa...

The Courier Mail today reports that Premier Beattie will open an office of Brisbane's International Water Centre - in Johannesburg - to teach South African students about water management.

You would be forgiven for thinking that Premier Beattie should tend to his problems at home before deciding on any water management world domination strategy.

Some might say that with all the water issues in SEQ and the State Labor government's mishandling of water crisis, it has little to offer to South Africa in terms of water management skills ...

Do nothing for almost 8 years of drought, wait till the water is almost gone and bring on drinking recycled effluent and think it will end all the water problems. He could email that info to them!

Anna Bligh said on the channel 2 news last night that this process would be safe but the community would not accept it.

Bulls--t Pete will repeat his comment :Drink it or die!!!

Maybe they should check with Dr Greg Lesley befoer making such statements.

Beattie's trip seems to have been a wasted effort.

From the Courier Mail:

Brisbane will return with a bid to host the 2015 world athletics championships after the city lost its bids for the 2011 and 2013 games last night.

That was the vow from Premier Peter Beattie when the decision was announced late last night.
