Qld Deputy Premier claims no rush on recycled water ...

See - 4BC radio - Deputy Premier Lucus on recycled water.

Says 6 months testing is enough.

Gives a few examples of unplanned potable reuse to justify pouring recycled water into Wivenhoe dam.

Says he hasn't read the recycled water guidelines.

Doesn't have an answer on hospital waste.

Refuses to guarantee that it's safe.

QWC PR campaign still lies in tatters.

The question remains - why the rush ...

Its interesting to look back - after listening to the new Deputy Premier today on 4BC. ... What happened to the idea of recycled water being an "emergency use" solution kicking in when dam levels fell below 40%? ...... Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure Anna Bligh said against this backdrop of climate variability the Queensland Water Commission formally recommended to Government that the emergency use of purified recycled water should be triggered when dam levels were approximately 40 percent – the point at which water restrictions kick in. http://www.cabinet.qld.gov.au/MMS/StatementDisplaySingle.aspx?id=50056

Not sure where the 40% factor comes in - "Armageddon" was spoken about when the dams were well below 20%

I suggest that Paul Lucas learns to count. November, December, January, February adds up to four months fromm where I am standing - not six months and not long enough for testing. The unseemly haste to add this processed sewerage, and even worse, hospital and industrial waste, to the drinking supplies suggest a money trail. People are more important than Govt profits by stealth.

Perhaps Paul Lucas is now realising how far he has been "dropped in it"!
