Toowoomba Regional Council 2008 election - candidate Scotney disclaims Meibusch endorsement ...
Excerpt from the Chronicle:
Endorsement from left field a surprise
6 March 2008
Ros Scotney says her "dear departed father" Gordon would be turning in his grave if he knew she had been endorsed by a Labor Party powerbroker in the Toowoomba Regional Council election. But she has.
The Pittsworth mayor and Clifton Shire deputy mayor Anne Glasheen are the latest additions on Chris Meibusch's updated list of "preferred" council candidates.
Cr Scotney admits she is a member of both the National and Liberal parties and openly campaigned for Ian Macfarlane, with two placards on her properties, to retain the federal seat of Groom.
Cr Scotney concedes she's "shocked" to have been endorsed by Mr Macfarlane's Labor Party rival.
Cr Scotney received her "letter" in yesterday's mail.

Excerpt from the Chronicle:
Anne Glasheen was stunned. She's met Mr Meibusch once, just last week. She would have appreciated some hint of his endorsement.
"I'm non political, I'm very independent I'm loyal to my community. It would have been nice if he'd at least asked permission before including me," Cr Glasheen said
Jondaryan Shire councillor Annette Frizzell was angry she remained on the list, and shot off an email yesterday demanding she be removed.

This just shows why the majority of this community do not want political party "teams" just look at the Brisbane Council. Toowoomba residents have had enough conflict over the past three years and just want a Council which is balanced and willing to work with each other on the huge issues to come. We don't want a political "bunfight"
