Toowoomba Regional Council 2008 election - the YES campaign's dream team ...

From the team that brought you balloons and pizza - the core team of YES campaign supporters - this time it's their pick for the Toowooomba Regional Council.

See - Kirsty - but mummy do we have to drink it?

Their picks:

For Mayor:

- Ian Jones.

For Councillors (no surprises and some real gems here):

- Joe Ramia - you can listen to Joe here.

- Michele Alroe

- Michelle Schneider

- Sue Englart.

Their support of the remains of the sewer six-pack is no real surprise.

And their pick of the new talent:

- Bill Cahill

- Mike Williams

- Ros Scotney

- Mark Schuster

- Peter Marks

- Paul Antonio

- Megan Sullivan

- Ian Orford

- Noel Strohfeld

See - YES campaign's candidates.

Some of these candidates are likely to be surprised they've been included on the YES campaign list - indicating that they would support the introduction of recycled water to the Toowoomba and region water supply.

With only two days left to distance themselves from the voter fallout, some of these candidates may be working overtime ...

Kirstie's famous comment about house prices soaring in Orange County. With US property prices falling, how well does her comment hold up now?

Remember, this comment came from 2006. Orange County's new recycled water scheme has just come online.

Kirstie Smolenski, Toowoomba: I have been talking to a contact in Orange County USA about land prices. He states that since they started recycling water the land prices have near doubled. A house that is positioned above an aquifer containing recycled water was priced at $320,000 pre recycling and is now $620,000. His reasoning is that peole understand the value of living with a sustainable, pure, water supply.

This comment (edited) was received earlier:

Kirstie was and maybe still is an employee at the Toowoomba City Council.

Sue Englart told me with her own mouth one day, and how she was expecting number 5.

I guess this is the list the heads in council have come up with. They want to work with these people as they now they will go with what they want and not what the people want.

Then one day when they get Toowoomba people drinking Brisbane's pee and poo, Kirstie's children will be able to say "thank you Mummy for our lovely cocktail concoctions, now I know ********".

All I can say is Go SNOW you're the man for the job.

Even the Yes voters are not supporting the 4 - highly unlikely that any of them will be returned - Alroe,Englart trying to catch younger voters with jingles on radio

Has there ever been a Toowoomba local government election where the Labor party and other vested interests have tried so hard to convince voters that they should vote for their choice of candidates and not vote for particular candidates?
