About Me
- Name: Concerned Ratepayer
- Location: Australia
For many years, the 4350water blog has informed readers of plans by the Toowoomba City Council (now Toowoomba Regional Council) and the Qld government to introduce recycled water for drinking in Toowoomba. It has also looked at the issue from a State and Federal perspective and dealt with related State and Federal political issues. There continues to be a need for the Toowoomba Regional Council to be completely transparent in its dealings with the ratepayers and residents of Toowoomba. There also continues to be a need for open debate on the benefits and risks of potable reuse and long-term studies on the effects on humans of drinking recycled water. Coal seam gas water is emerging as a possible alternate water source for some uses for the region. The 4350water blog is a collective effort and thanks go to its many contributors.

By the look of to-day's paper Taylor and Jones will be there BUT they are not happy.
I think it is more to do with the fact that they did not think of it first!

The Chronicle:
Hopefuls wary of Snow job
15.02.2008
SNOW Manners could be sitting on his own at his mayoral debate.
Other Toowoomba Regional Council mayoral hopefuls Ian Jones and Peter Taylor yesterday had been caught unawares and were wary.
Cr Jones said he wouldn't be there, labelling it potentially a "circus for the candidates".
"I think it's going to be a riot. With a rent-a-crowd, there may be 50 people waving placards in our faces," Cr Jones said.
"If there's going to be a sensible place to go where people can be heard in a sensible and civilised manner I'm more than happy to do it - and I'm already doing that on February 22 with the Chamber of Commerce.
And Cr Jones, in a free plug, invited people to come and talk to all the candidates at this weekend's Clifton Show in a "peaceful environment".
Cr Taylor was miffed he hadn't been given the courtesy of a telephone call so he could check his diary - and he has another booking at 7pm on March 4.
"Given the circumstances, I may have to see them and change it.
"I enjoy debate. Bring it on. But what he's done is not the appropriate way to go about it.
"It's not normal for a candidate to organise his or her own debate," Cr Taylor said.
The norm was for debates to be organised by independent public organisations.
Cr Taylor said there was a great need for information on all candidates because there had never been an election like this.
The Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce is holding a breakfast where the three mayoral candidates will speak next Friday.
Cr Manners said the average resident wasn't a member of the chamber and could not afford the $25 for breakfast.
"If someone else was organising a get-together I'd be there anytime or any place.
"But no-one is and I have," he said.
"It looks like it will be me and the councillor candidates at the Hume Ridge Hall from 7pm on March 4," he said
