Councils Welcome Coalition Water Policy

Queensland councils have welcomed the state Coalition parties’ South-East Queensland water policy.

“Water is the most significant issue confronting Queensland councils and it is good to see the Coalition contributing to much-needed debate in this area,” Local Government Association of Queensland president, Cr Paul Bell, said today.

...

The association also supports the development of recycled water programs like those identified in this SEQ Water Plan if they are developed with the full engagement of local governments as is proposed by the Coalition.

The Coalition's Water Policy includes recycling for industry and irrigation uses but not for drinking purposes:

"The Coalition has a firm policy that recycled water should be reserved for industrial and irrigation uses before any consideration is given to its re-introduction into drinking water supplies."
