Is it only a matter of time before Mayor Thorley cancels Christmas?

Council staff raise cancellation of Carnival of Flowers
5 May 2006
THE DEBATE on the fate of all community events and a moratorium on development, if the drought continues, is on hold for another day.
Council staff this week warned that if council wanted to send a signal to the community on the importance of conserving water it should consider the cancellation of the 2007 Carnival of Flowers.
Acting manager of Corporate Planning and Performance Kevin Wruck, knowing Mayor Dianne Thorley's passion for Australian longest-running event, apologised.
Cr Thorley said: "The debate will come, but it will be all events, not just one. "Conferences, everything and not just here."
That may include the 2007 Local Government Association of Queensland conference, the 2008 Toowoomba Royal Show, the 2008 Australian Gospel Music Festival and list could go on.
See - Vote yes, or we'll cancel everything.
