The OTHER April Fool's Day prank?

As reported in today's Chronicle (annotated).

Anti-recycling vandals plaster stickers on city school

We all knew the water debate would get dirty in the lead-up to the referendum, but not this soon.

Overnight Sunday somebody plastered a Toowoomba school with anti-water recycling stickers knowing full well it was the workplace of prominent [recycled sewage] supporter Jeff Nolan.

Since stepping into the public arena, Mr Nolan, one of the founders of Pure H20, the only pro- [recycled sewage] group in Toowoomba [and now disbanded], has witnessed the cyclonic community debate on the vexing issue.

Politics and emotion have combined to dramatic effect, pitting people against each another with accusations flying unfounded.

A science teacher, Mr Nolan was unprepared but battled on, writing letters to the editor and collecting signatures in support of Toowoomba City Council's Water Futures project [for a petition which never saw the light of day].

He was able to laugh at the sticker incident [publicly but privately he was dispatching abusive emails] – it might have been kids after all – but admits it has added to the weariness he is beginning to feel.

The sooner it is all over, the better.

See - School gets plastered.

Was it just a misguided April Fool's Day prank?

Did it really happen on Saturday 1 April rather than Sunday (as suggested)?

While not condoning people entering onto school property out of school hours and placing stickers on windows, no permanent damage was done.

Wallpapering school windows with protest stickers doesn't really help anyone. They'd be better off on protestors' car bumpers ...

It seems hard to ponder that Jeff dose not get it, if you are sick of it already then wait until the real campaign starts.

The thing is - those opposing the Mayor have dug in for the duration - we will not give up - we will continue until rational thinking returns to council and she is out of office.

Those supporting the mayor don't seem to have the energy to go on - give up if you want - but we're not going anywhere. The job isn't finished yet!
