Taylor steps into mayoral role Tuesday

Peter Taylor will officially become Toowoomba Regional mayor when the mayoral poll is declared next Tuesday.

But the 10 councillors to sit on his council won't be decided until next week when the count continues on Tuesday. And there is always the chance of the dreaded call for a recount, and further delays, if the final positions are too close.

Ms Lowien said she would declare the mayoral poll at 10am, so Mr Taylor can legitimately attend Premier Anna Bligh's mayoral summit in Brisbane later in the day.
