About Me
- Name: Concerned Ratepayer
- Location: Australia
For many years, the 4350water blog has informed readers of plans by the Toowoomba City Council (now Toowoomba Regional Council) and the Qld government to introduce recycled water for drinking in Toowoomba. It has also looked at the issue from a State and Federal perspective and dealt with related State and Federal political issues. There continues to be a need for the Toowoomba Regional Council to be completely transparent in its dealings with the ratepayers and residents of Toowoomba. There also continues to be a need for open debate on the benefits and risks of potable reuse and long-term studies on the effects on humans of drinking recycled water. Coal seam gas water is emerging as a possible alternate water source for some uses for the region. The 4350water blog is a collective effort and thanks go to its many contributors.

This has come over on ABC radio.
Family of Kevin Rudd are saying not to vote for him. So they must truely know what he is like.
Obviously like a wolf in sheeps clothing!

WINPOLL RESULTS
Coalition stronghold
The results are in from this week's WINPOLL.
And it seems the Darling Downs remains a Coalition stronghold, with a staggering seventy four per cent of respondents set to vote for a Howard Government.
Just over a quarter to back a surging Kevin Rudd.
That's an eight point swing for the Coalition, who last month had a sixty six per cent approval rating in our poll.

Dispute boils over in Wentworth
November 24, 2007 - 2:29PM
Award winning journalist Caroline Overington hurled abuse at Labor candidate for Wentworth George Newhouse before slapping him across the face at a polling station in Sydney's east, witnesses say.
Ms Overington, a Gold Walkley winning reporter who works for The Australian newspaper, has been embroiled in a dispute involving a series of emails to independent candidate Dani Ecuyer urging her to preference Wentworth Liberal MP Malcolm Turnbull.
Ms Ecuyer is the ex-girlfriend of Mr Newhouse.
Ms Overington also sent a series of flirtatious emails to Mr Newhouse, which were then published in rival papers.
Polling booth attendants and voters were shocked to see Ms Overington stride up to Mr Newhouse, strike him across the face and then walk away, those who saw the incident told AAP.
One witness at the Bellevue Hill Public school polling booth said Ms Overington yelled abuse and appeared furious.
"At first we thought who was this woman yelling at Newhouse, then she slapped him and we realised it was Caroline Overington,'' the witness said.
"There was an incident and we are considering our options,'' Mr Newhouse's spokeswoman said.
"It was Ms Overington,'' she said.
The incident adds another layer of drama to the marginal seat that is already seen as something of soap opera.
The seat of Wentworth became a hot topic during the election campaign after Mr Turnbull's controversial approval of the Tasmanian Gunns Pulp mill.
Millionaire businessman Geoffrey Cousin launched an advertising blitz against Mr Turnbull, who is also environment minister.
Today Mr Turnbull placed an advertisement in a Sydney newspaper claiming Mr Newhouse was an invalid candidate.
Mr Turnbull believes Mr Newhouse didn't allocate enough time between quitting his NSW state government job and becoming the ALP candidate.
The multi-millionaire politician faces a tough contest with strong competition from Mr Newhouse and the flow of Greens preferences against him.
