Toowoomba City Council looks for Wetalla bore scapegoat ...

Under pressure to justify its bungled Wetalla bore, Toowoomba City Council considers suing its consultants.

Excerpt from WIN News:

Wetalla Bore - Council

5 September 2007

Council will consider taking legal action against drillers and consultants over Wetalla bore.

The Toowoomba City Council will consider taking legal action against drillers and consultants over the bungled $2.4 million Wetalla bore.

They insist it was impossible to test for water quality until only recently, and have rejected suggestions for a desalination plant to treat the borewater on the basis it would be too expensive.

See - Council looks for scapegoat.

When they announced the results of the bore drilling and the need to abandon the Wetalla bore, there was no word of needing to sue the consultants.

Why the sudden change of mind ...

It is the Toowoomba City Council
(Kev Flanagan) who is responsible for this fiasco and they know it. There is only one person who can make it through all the crap being shoveled out in to-day's Council meeting and the silly billy lady Councillors can only sit there and praise the work of this crew!!

I am one who thinks that Cr Ramia should be putting his head on the block as the buck should stop there. There is a problem with the Wetalla Bore and he chairs that portfolio so his head should roll along with Kev Flanagan.

Ramia said that he would stand down from the chair of the Water portfolio if they lost the water Poll and they did! He was not a man of his word then, so why should we trust him now?

TCC is taking an awful risk with ratepayers' money by threatening to sue the consultants. The whole issue will then head to commercial litigation. The Council better be right or they risk some pretty heavy legal costs being paid to the other side. That will be the legacy of this Council.
