Is the bore really salty or was that another ploy to bring on the stand alone recycled sewage plant?

It would appear Deputy Premier said you can not have it and go back and work with the Task Force.

Thorley said on ABC radio that if they got a knock back this time from the State government, her plan to have a stand alone plant would be off the table and now is the time to make this quite clear.

It's time to leave it up to the Council election and the people will make it clear that the No vote will stand.

She needs to come clean on this bore and what has happened and then ping off!!!

Talk about the problem of salt ponds by the Mayor and supporters is rubbish as the salt ponds that would be be needed for her failed recycled plant were enormous so once again she lies!!

Thorley can't build her precious recycled water plant without evaporation ponds. No-one wants the RO waste stream. It's a common problem for inland city projects.

Excerpt from ABC News:

Council to meet on failed Wetalla bore

5 September 2007

The Toowoomba City Council, in southern Queensland, will today discuss a detailed report on the failed Wetalla Great Artesian Basin bore.

The Mayor, Dianne Thorley, says there has been innuendo about the project and the report will set out why it cost more than $2 million, the problems that arose during construction and testing which revealed water would be too salty for human consumption.

Wetalla was to provide 2,000 megalitres of water from next year and councillor Thorley believes speculation about the project has arisen because of the council election looming in March.

The Mayor says the city cannot wait for water to fall out of the sky and that is why she has been meeting with state and federal politicians.
