Climate change, not terrorism, will be the main security issue of the century, with potential to cause death and destruction on an unprecedented scale, Australia's top policeman believes.
In a surprise foray into the politics of global warming, Australian Federal Police commissioner Mick Keelty described how climate refugees "in their millions" could create a national security emergency for Australia.
His provocative comments, made in a speech in Adelaide last night, are likely to be diplomatically sensitive after he described a scenario in which China was unable to feed its vast population.
Law enforcement agencies would struggle to cope with global warming's "potential to wreak havoc, cause more deaths and pose national security issues like we've never seen before", Mr Keelty said.

Why it is good to have the people fearful of everything? It is up to our Government to deal with these things so that Australia is able to deal with emergencies as they come up. The people are too busy keeping a roof over their heads and bringing up their families. That is why we elect people to run things. I would not vote in a Labor Govt as they won't be able to do any better that the present Govt. It will be Government by the unions for the Unions if we do that. Serving their Socialist masters! They are doing their best to fool our young people who don't know about the International Socialists yet and they are the ones who are going to have to deal with them. Start reading about the Socialists, keep out of the pubs, off the drugs and don't be fooled! One day you will have children too.
