... Coalition unable to capitalise on their stuff ups.

80% say Beattie and Bligh are not doing enough to combat the water shortage and most have no faith that infrastructure will be delivered on time.

76% say Beattie's and Bligh's performance on water is either poor or very poor.

70% say their performance on health is poor or very poor.

61% say their performance on roads is poor or very poor.

Their only saviour is that there is no real opposition party.

Beattie rules out stepping down

11 June 2007

Queensland Premier Peter Beattie says he has no plans to step down as premier before the next state election.

His promise came as his future was questioned following a Galaxy Poll for The Courier-Mail newspaper showing 76 per cent of Queenslanders rated the Government's performance on delivering water supply to the state's drought-hit southeast as poor or very poor.

"I'm not going anywhere," Mr Beattie said at the Bundamba Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, west of Brisbane.

"I'll be around for a while."

The Bundamba plant, which is part of southeast Queensland's water grid, is due to begin pumping 20 megalitres of recycled water a day to the nearby Swanbank power station by August 31 this year, leaving the same amount of drinking water in the Wivenhoe dam system for use by residents and business.
