Australia's longest-running annual event, the Carnival of Flowers will have a garden competition.

Toowoomba councillors are set to agree to join The Chronicle to subsidise the annual home garden competition today after deferring a decision yesterday.

Council has been asked for a $37,990 contribution, which includes $26,000 towards the supply of non-potable bore water to competition gardeners and some of the holiday prizes.
