Mayor Thorley - no more public comments ...

... but scheduled to speak at Sunshine Coast conference in June 2006.

Mayor Thorley has stated that she will make no further comments on water issues during the referendum period.

However, both she and Kevin Flanagan are scheduled to present papers at the Sustainable Water in the Urban Environment II conference on Monday 19 June 2006 at the University of the Sunshine Coast:

1.45-2.15pm - Kevin Flanagan - 'Water Supply Options for Toowoomba'.

2.15-2.45pm - Di Thorley - 'Being a leader is not always easy - a review of Toowoomba's water planning experience (and a peek into the future)'.

Source - Conference Program.

Mayor Thorley's attendance at this conference shows she has lied to the Toowoomba public once again. It also reaffirms her arrogance at not addressing the Toowoomba community's concerns ...

She can't be bothered attending a meeting in Toowoomba to talk about water but can run off at ratepayers' expense to the Sunshine Coast to talk about it. Unbelievable.

I,m not sure what sort of valuable information they hope they can contribute! Perhaps - "How not to behave like idiots and let a city run dry."

What a coward, She can not speak to her community and yet she can go to a conference at our expense and tell lies. Shame on you Thorley.
Cads will have their meeting on this Saturday at Harristown State School and we will find out about the other options.
All people are welcome so roll up and have your say.
This is increditable that a group of concerned citizens can have an open meeting and this crazy mayor is not trying to engage the community.

This gutless council with its YES councillors and two highly paid members of the council are refusing to attend the CADS meeting this Saturday.

What a disgrace, and then they can run of elsewhere and talk.

If you can't talk to the people of Toowoomba, pack your bags and go to another city. I am sick of paying rates for people who won't face us their employers!

It's crazy that the mayor of a major city hides from the community but keeps going on ratepayer funded jaunts to tell others how wonderful her sewage scheme is.
You tell people in other cities about this and they just don't believe that an elected official would do this.

This really annoys me. She's too busy to go to the CADS meeting this Saturday but happy to scoot off up the coast to do the bidding of the recycling companies.

Who is paying her, Toowoomba City Council or CH2M Hill?

We need answers.

And she should be making public comments, she is the one that has shoved this onto everyone.

For some-one who will not make public comments she is busy on the air waves. She was on ABC radio yesterday(25th May) and espousing the same stuff. It's done all over the world and No means No money and Singapore water is safe and a good example.
Come on Thorley show up at the Public Meeting and Actually TALK TO PEOPLE!
