Councillor code of conduct expected to boost public confidence

The Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) says a new mandatory code of conduct should boost public confidence.

The code comes into effect from today and covers statutory obligations and ethics principles for councillors.

LGAQ president Paul Bell says it will require a high standard of behaviour from councillors and all councils should now have formally adopted the new policy.
