The state opposition has lashed out at the government's response to Toowoomba's water woes, describing the offer to fund forty percent of the Wivenhoe pipeline as pitiful.

ABC News:
Pipe construction promises flow-on retail benefits
10 November 2008
The chairman of a Brisbane Valley retail co-operative says the local economy will benefit when a pipeline construction crew moves in.
More than 100 workers will be living and working in the Esk area during the construction of the Wivenhoe to Toowoomba pipeline.
The work camp will be finished at the end of the month.
Tony Fitzgerald from the Esk District Co-op says he expects the workers will visit the town's hotels, restaurants and petrol stations.
"For most of the week they're going to be resident in town. There's got to be some beneficial flow-on to the area in terms of increased spending power within the area," he said.
"Various commercial outlets will benefit, some probably better than others."

Wonderful for the workers but what a cocktail they are sending up the mountain

It's always about the almighty dollar and never about what's right.
Bligh is determined to give Toowoomba the processed sewage and stick it to us.
She is about to spend another $1M on an educational add campaign and that's all our money.
We will remember you Anna when we walk into the polling station at the next election when ever you decide to call it.
I suppose you will run for as long as you can because we employ both you and your hubby !
She will never have to let processed sewage pass her lips as we pay for bottled water in all parliment buildings.

But what's your plan? Which Labor MPs will you target? Which Labor MPs are in marginal seats?
1:14 PM, November 11, 2008
Big majorities are going to lose as well as marginal - do not think any seat is safe, even Anna's - if she goes against the wishes of now approaching 80% of the population regarding the recycling of sewage water through our taps'
All her other messages will get lost due to her continuance of this abhorrent plan
