Australia talks - about recycled water ...
Listen to:
- Professor Peter Collignon, Infectious disease physician and microbiologist, Clinical school, ANU
- Professor Paul Greenfield, Vice-Chancellor, University of Queensland, Chair of Queensland Water Commission's independent Scientific Expert Panel
- Snow Manners, resident of Toowoomba and campaigner against recycled water
- Anton Vigenser, Spokesperson Victorian Water Forum
You'll hear Prof. Greenfield have a bit of a dummy spit - "it's not sewage, it's water" ...

Amazing that Greenfield is using the poo in the dam argument.

And the idiot from Strathpine who raised the London 7 sets of kidneys myth!!
9:19 PM, November 03, 2008
And the guy who says we have to trust the government not to poison us.

It's very funny listening to Greenfield stumble and whinge about it being water not sewage. He's got his QWC instructions.
Collignon gives a very good rundown on why you don't need to use recycled water for drinking. He gives a very good summary.
Collignon is the thorn in Bligh's side.

Then Greenfield cites the Khan paper which contains the disclaimer disclaiming everything that's written in it. Great!
9:33 PM, November 03, 2008
And who's paying Greenfield for his time? The QWC!
9:35 PM, November 03, 2008
Greenfield ducks the question about Barrier 1 and hospital waste. Didn't want to talk about. Not suprising.

Great listening to Anton giving his 'expert' views on Toowoomba and the referendum. He doesn't want a referendum because it clouds the water!!
9:47 PM, November 03, 2008
Then Greenfield has a dummy spit at Manners over his comments and actually mentions Virginia as an example. What an idiot!
9:48 PM, November 03, 2008
Greenfield is supposed to be the expert and he doesn't know the latest info about Virginia. How out of touch is he?
9:52 PM, November 03, 2008
Manners challenges Greenfield to come up with a similar example. Greenfield refers to Virginia again. What has he been smoking??
9:54 PM, November 03, 2008
Good running commentary. It was interesting that Prof. Greenfield avoided talking about the issue of hospital waste.
Always amusing to hear so called experts give their views about the Toowoomba debate.
If you weren't there at the time, you don't really know and Anton V. certainly wasn't there.
He sounds like the Victoria's answer to Jeff Nolan. Any minute now he'll announce a pro-recycled sewage water petition!

It's like stepping back to pre July 2006 and they still have not learnt anything.
They say that their examples are close enough and they are not as there is none anywhere in the world!
They still can not get the fact that ordinary people can understand an un-natural process. If any one cares to Google up for information , they will find all they need to make a considered decission.
Prof Peter Collingnon can not be disputed and has no ties to this government as Greenfield does.
Brisbane deserves to have a say in this matter and this time make it a referdum and not a Poll. That way it will be law and can-not be ignored as the Toowoomba vote has been.
We now see Mayor Peter Taylor telling us that it is safe and and Anna Bligh saying that it has been done for 40 years overseas.
More bloody lies.
10:41 PM, November 03, 2008
Peter Taylor is a twit
11:21 PM, November 03, 2008
Certainly flip flopping on recycled water. Didn't want it at Jondaryan. Wanted it only for industrial use with purple pipes. Now wants people in Toowoomba to drink it. Probably won't be drinking it out on his farm.
11:38 PM, November 03, 2008
Taylor and fellow Councillors will have cases of bottled water to drink paid for by the ratepayers!!
10:04 AM, November 04, 2008
Peter Taylor had better enjoy his term as Mayor as he will only have one go.
What a goose now saying that it will go through 2 dams. He has been around Flanagan and Spencer for too long.
Don't worry Peter because the word on the street is that you are gone next election. So don't get too comfortable in your seat!

Well, all I can say is thank god for The Australian newspaper and the 4BC journalists who are not afraid to bring this matter out in
the open. This whole recycled sewerage plan is a gigantic "Yes Minister" situation. If there had been allowed rational debate and consideration in the first place instead of the cloak and dagger decisions and the "like it or lump it" ultimations to the public perhaps we would not be having this angst now. I will never believe a word this Labor Govt says and I hope that any new Govt does not take the same path. Hughie, send down the rain to save us from this bureaucratic nightmare.
