Toowoomba's dam levels hit 10% ...

Excerpt from the Chronicle:

Dam levels hit 10%

27 September 2008

Toowoomba dams have hit a new low with levels now at 10%.

The recently released figure which monitors the combined dam storage levels for Toowoomba Regional Council (Cooby, Perseverance and Lake Cressbrook) is the lowest on record.

Water Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Paul Antonio said it was now more important than ever for consumers to carefully monitor their water usage.

"A large proportion of residents are doing the right thing, that's indicated in our usage figures at 122 litres per person per day, but there are still those out there who are not toeing the line," he said.

"We have to keep reminding high water users and hope the penny drops for them."

Cr Antonio is following in the footsteps of the Toowoomba City Council by referring only to dam levels and not referring to Toowoomba's use of bore water and the ability to draw on GAB supplies ...

If the dams run dry, is there enough water in the bores and the GAB to supply Toowoomba?

My basalt bore here has begun to not provide water in at the same quantities it used to. What happen if the towns bores start also to provide less water?

Here we go as the Carnival is over and now they will scare the community. How dare they pour bore water on to useless annualls and now have the hide to tell us to watch what we are using.
They have the GAB water to come on line and the government has the ability to allow more water to be extracted if it is need and they know it.
I believe that this community is wise and well and truely on to this lot.

We are all part of one big region now and we should be able to share the water.

Paul Antonio states that his area has plenty of water so we should be able to get a share of that water???
