Outgoing Mayor endorses her Mayoral candidate ...

Although his choice of campaign manager pretty much gives it away, see if you can spot the outgoing Mayor's preferred candidate for Mayor at the Toowoomba Regional Council 2008 election:

"... I suppose it will be the legacy of Clive Berghofer, Snow Manners, Rosemary Morley, Peter Taylor and Ian Orford it will be their legacy now ..."

Jones was the preferred candidate for the chair of the amalgamation committee. Thorley lost that round too.
Taylor lobbied the unions more and just scrapped over the line in a 10-9 win.

Thorley's reasoning is to try and split the No campaign vote between Manners and Taylor and that way see Jones scrap in.

That would make sense if Taylor is strong supporter for the opposition to adding recycled sewage water to the dams - but who knows?

Ian Jones had the support of the unions at the vote for regional chair . Peter Taylor won 10 9 with the support of councils .

Unfortunately many of the population are too apathetic to make strong enquiries regarding the candidates at any election and it would be better if they did not have a vote at all. Dodgy candidates relky on this.

Thorley relied on union support to get elected. Looks like history trying to repeat itself.
