Mini desal plant for race course

The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) says it will cut water use at Flemington Race Course in half, with the construction of a new desalination plant.

The VRC has received a $5 million Commonwealth grant for the project, which is expected to be up and running by next summer.

The plant will tap into a salt water aquifer under the racecourse to cut drinking water consumption and water the tracks, ground and gardens.
