Toowoomba City Council - too busy to consider water tanks ...

Seems the Toowoomba City Council is too busy to look at the issue of options to accelerate retrofitting of existing houses in Toowoomba with tanks.

Minutes for the Council Committee meeting for 3 and 4 April 2007 show that Council is waiting on a report to be prepared reviewing options to retrofit tanks. The report will look at matters such as Council's liability, inspection regime and budget implications.

The reason offered for the delay?

Relevant officers are currently fully committed to other projects. A revised completion date of 31 July 2007 is proposed.

See - TCC Committee meeting minutes - 3 and 4 April 2007 - page 60.

The delay wouldn't have anything to do with elements in the Council being against any program involving the retrofitting of tanks to existing homes as it would reduce dependence on town water and 'dilute' any argument that Toowoomba should move towards recycled water for potable use.

No, Council officers wouldn't be sitting on their hands over this report.

No, that would never happen ...
