Treasurer Anna Bligh announced that a new $700 million children's hospital would be funded by selling the management rights of the Golden Casket lottery.
Gaming giant Tattersall's paid $530 million to manage the taxpayer-owned lottery for the next 65 years.
The Tattersall's cash, along with a $150 million reserve held by Golden Casket, will be set aside by the Government to fund the new children's hospital in Brisbane.

Under the deal, the state will lose dividends of about $16 million a year to Tattersall's but it will continue to pocket lottery taxes of about $185 million a year.
...
At $530 million for 65 years, that works out at around $8 million per year for an initial return to Tattersall's of $16 million per year. A stellar deal by Tattersall's for its shareholders.
