Jondaryan Shire wants a vote on 17 March ...

All Jondaryan Shire residents are likely to be included in the referendum on recycled water to be conducted by the State Electoral Commission in south east Queensland in March next year.

Note that, in the two informal polls of Jondaryan Shire residents so far, they rejected drinking recycled water on both occasions.

From the Courier Mail - more comedy from the State government:

The State Government's ambitious water grid plans for the southeast have got off to an embarrassing start.

Not only did 247 Sunshine Coast property owners get a letter out of the blue telling them their land may be affected by pipelines, they were directed to call a telephone number that turned out to be that of Liberal leader Bruce Flegg.

Cooloolabin resident Hugh Danvers-Thomas said he had received the letter from the Co-ordinator-General's office advising him the "northern pipeline interconnector" could cross his property.

The letter said a member of the project team might make contact in the coming days.

But when he rang the telephone number given for the senior project officer, Andrew Stove, he got Dr Flegg's office.

"I thought 'this is a government department gone mad'," Mr Danvers-Thomas said.

A Government spokeswoman issued a dry response to an inquiry to Deputy Premier Anna Bligh's office.

"An error was made. A new letter with correct contact details will be sent to the 247 property owners overnight and officers of the Co-ordinator-General will personally call landowners to advise them of the correct contact details," she said.

Ms Bligh's office did not respond to questions about the lack of warning to residents about the pipelines.
