About Me
- Name: Concerned Ratepayer
- Location: Australia
For many years, the 4350water blog has informed readers of plans by the Toowoomba City Council (now Toowoomba Regional Council) and the Qld government to introduce recycled water for drinking in Toowoomba. It has also looked at the issue from a State and Federal perspective and dealt with related State and Federal political issues. There continues to be a need for the Toowoomba Regional Council to be completely transparent in its dealings with the ratepayers and residents of Toowoomba. There also continues to be a need for open debate on the benefits and risks of potable reuse and long-term studies on the effects on humans of drinking recycled water. Coal seam gas water is emerging as a possible alternate water source for some uses for the region. The 4350water blog is a collective effort and thanks go to its many contributors.

Well worth the post.

I still can not believe that there are people out there making a water source a political debate. It's not whether you want recycled water or bore water, or massive amounts of energy to be expended to get you "clean" water from almost empty regional water sources such as, the Wivenhoe system. The question is do you want water?
The entire reason for recycling water is that there is a strong possibility that Toowoomba will not have water for it's citizens in the near future if there continues to be no rain across our dam catchments. Why is there no rain? GLOBAL WARMING
The options that talk about pumping water massive distances up the great dividing range will only contribute to the GREENHOUSE GASES that got the world in this water problem in the first place.
The referendum should be for WATER or NO WATER and leave science to do what it has done for centuries. SOLVE PROBLEMS.

The referendum is not for "no water" or "recycled water" - more scare tactics from the council. Just like the 400% rate increases.
There are other options - Beattie, the State Opposition and Water Facts are all looking at them.
Global warming, greenhouse gases etc - more scare tactics - just like the rumours that the dams would run out by last Christmas.
Beattie has said he won't let Toowoomba run out of water. He can use his emergency powers to complete the pipeline from Wivenhoe to Toowoomba for emergency use, some 2kms not some "massive distance".
To believe that Toowoomba will run out of water is to fall for the Flanagan, Thorley and Ramia deception.
If anything, the referendum is an opportunity to pass judgment on the Council and its mismanagement.

Yeah, blame global warming - that's why hinze dam is full!

yeah, why is there global warming over Toowoomba and Brisbane but not over the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and north Qld?

How funny that the comment about global warming most likely came from someone posting from the Gold Coast City Council - where the dams are full and they are building a desalination plant!

How dumb is it to make a statement about Toowoomba not having water if there is no rain across our dam catchments and then say if we don't recycle our dams will dry up. Where do such dumb people believe our water is coming from in the first place!

DEFORESTATION is far more detrimental to the environment then GREENHOUSE GASES. Get your facts right whoever you may be siiting down there at the coast.

Yeah sitting down at the gold coast - sitting on a dam full of water.
Another one who doesn't live in Toowoomba but wants us to drink recycled sewage.
