Pay your rates ... and send a message ...

Council has sent rates notices out to Toowoomba ratepayers.

See - Rates notices dispatched.

A great opportunity to tell the Council what you think about the Mayor's controversial recycled sewage project.

If you post your cheque to the Council, write on the section of the rates notice you send with it:

"I do not want to drink your recycled sewage."

Write it on the envelope too.

If you pay your rates at the Council's payment counter, tell them you don't agree with the Mayor's plan.

Just a thought ....

Prehaps we could demand that our rates not be used for the recycling of sewage, well it is our money at the end of the day. And that none of our money goes to CH2M Hill.

We could insist that our rates be put towards building a new dam, or putting in a pipeline from Wivenhoe or the gas fields at Chinchilla.

And if they don't want to do that, then don't pay our rates. What would the council do if the majority of Toowoomba residents refused to pay their rates. They would have trouble off loading all those properties! Gee that would attract some media attention. And our poor councillors wouldn't have enough money in the kitty to pay themselves.

Prehaps somebody should sit outside the council with the petition against this project.

This is a good idea - ratepayers against the mayor's project should object via their rates notices. Send them a message!
