How the Council can win the debate ...

This debate is very easy for the Toowoomba City Council to win.

All they have to do is provide the residents and ratepayers of Toowoomba with long-term studies which show there are no harmful effects from long-term drinking of recycled water.

That's pretty simple, isn't it?

If the technology works as well as they say it does, wouldn't there be long-term studies showing that it's ok to drink over the long-term without any adverse effects?

Maybe that's the problem - there aren't any long-term studies. If there are, why doesn't the Council produce them?

They keep saying "it's safe" but where is the evidence to back this up?

Who ever made this blog is stupid is stupid!!! Big cities in Europe use recycled effluent. With no problems!!! Toowoomba has 18 months worth of water left in the damns!!! What do you propose we do! The water WILL be treated and tested so it is at a high level of standards.

Dear Anonymous

Name the cities and show me the long-term studies.

All I really want to see are the long-term studies that show that I-PU! is safe.

Thanks for your comment though - spirited debate is what is required!

One of my main concerns, Anonymous, is that there is no transparent debate by the Toowoomba City Council on this issue.

If the water is as safe as you say it is, then surely there are long-term studies to show this. If not, why not??

Why are there so many Federal government reports saying more research is needed? Why does the Mayor avoid discussing these?
